My main point is that worrying about tapering is a misplaced concern. It makes more sense to worry about tapering being too slow. So far the Fed has done a pretty good job, but that doesn't mean we're in the clear. The issue is the speed with which inflation can take hold - many will say it shouldn't be a concern while it is under 2-3% and that the pumps work flat out until then. You (seem to say) that if it takes hold and gets to 3ish% then it is all over and the Fed will have no choice but to flatline the economy to stop inflation galloping.
